Why some services still have a fee
Procedural services, ADHD assessments, treatments not fully covered by Medicare (such as medicinal cannabis and iron infusions), skin treatments, injection therapies, and certain medical paperwork sit outside the standard GP bulk billing arrangement. Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, EFTPOS or credit card.
Procedural services
Quoted at bookingSkin biopsies, lesion procedures, wound repair, and other minor procedures all attract a private fee. The exact amount depends on the procedure performed, its complexity, and the MBS item billed. Medicare rebates apply where eligible.

Phone consultations are available for eligible patients. We don't offer video consults. If you need referrals or paperwork after a phone consult, contact reception to arrange collection or electronic delivery.
Test results
A follow-up appointment is usually needed to discuss your results. Telephone advice will only be given when authorised by your doctor. We'll always contact you about urgent results as a priority.
Privacy & correspondence
Electronic medical information is sent via encrypted secure messaging. Printed results travel by tracked post. We don't accept patient enquiries via email and never send personal health information to personal email addresses.
Communication assistance
If you need a translator or interpreter, please let reception know on arrival. A phone interpreter may be available. For Auslan, bookings can be made via NABS at nabs.org.au or call 1800 246 945.
After hours care

001 Is Ripley Medical & Skin Clinic a bulk billing practice?
Yes. From 6 May 2026, we bulk bill all Medicare-eligible patients for standard GP consultations. If you have a valid Medicare card, your appointment will be fully covered with no out-of-pocket cost.
Some services still attract a private fee, including procedural services (such as skin biopsies, lesion procedures, and wound repair), ADHD assessments, medicinal cannabis and iron infusion consultations, skin treatments and injection therapies, and certain medical paperwork like Commercial Drivers Medicals. Reception will always let you know in advance if a fee applies to your appointment.
002 What if I don't have a Medicare card?
If you don't have a valid Medicare card, a private fee will apply at the time of your consultation. Our consultation fees without Medicare start at $85 for a standard Level B consultation, with longer consultations or appointments with certain doctors charged at different rates. You may be able to claim some of this back through your private health insurance.

Introducing Mixed Billing in our Practice
Access to healthcare for the community we serve is important to us. Ripley Medical & Skin Clinic unwavering commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of healthcare services we deliver is our top priority. To protect the sustainability of our practice and ensure the standard of the services we provide; Ripley Medical & Skin Clinic will now become a Mixed- Billing practice. This will allow us to maintain the highest quality of care we provide while still being able to address our patients with substantial needs.
Starting the 1st of September of 2022, we will be introducing the “Mixed-Billing” system. Most consultations are time-based and will incur private fees for patients who are not eligible under the bulk-billing criteria. Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, credit card or EFTPOS.
From 1st August we will be increasing our fees by $3.
We are still able to bulk bill eligible patient groups for most of the consultation types:

- Patients over 65 years old
- Commonwealth Concession Card holders
- DVA Gold Card holders
- Health Care Card holders

Correspondence
Electronic medical information is transmitted via encrypted format using secure messaging software. Printed medical information is mailed through the secure post (i.e., with a tracking number). Patient diagnostic correspondence and results, whether in electronic or hard copy format, are always forwarded to the relevant doctor. The word “Confidential” is written on the correspondence. Patient information is only sent via email if it is securely encrypted. We do not accept patient enquiries or requests via email. We also do not send patient information to personal email addresses.

Skin Treatment
Laser Therapy
If your face has been left with blotches, scars, wrinkles, or lines for aging, acne, or too much time in the sun, laser skin resurfacing can assist your skin look older and healthier.
The resurfacing of the skin with laser removes accurately layer by layer. The fresh skin cells that form during healing offer the skin a surface that looks tighter and younger.
Mole Mapping
